1. Glenridge @ Bermuda Run Meet Information Tomorrow is our FIRST OFFICIAL dual meet of the season and our FIRST meet in our new league! Please visit our SwimTopia site, go to the Meets & Events tab and click on Signup Calendar. When you see the Glenridge @ Barracudas on June 4th, you'll see 4 paper clips beside the words "Heat Sheet", "Meet Information", "Events by Age Group" and "Relay Assignments". Open these documents for all of your information needed for the meet. Use the "events by age group" document as your guide for writing your swimmer's events on their arm before the meet. The event numbers are at the top of the column. When you drop down from the event number, the heat and lane assignments are listed for each swimmer. Please double check your swimmer's event heat and lane assignment and make sure it matches the heat sheet. Because Bermuda does not use SwimTopia when it merges meet information, I had to make the Events by Age Group document myself. Mistakes are always possible so please double check my work! Age group helpers will be given heat sheets, Events by Age Group and Relay Assignment documents for reference. I will also post these documents in our team area. 2. Event Assignments The Greater Forsyth Swim League has specific rules regarding event assignments. An individual swimmer can be assigned to no more than 3 individual events and 2 relay events per meet. The number of swimmers that can be entered into events by each team is capped. For example, teams can enter an unlimited number of 10 and younger swimmers in the 25 free but can only enter 6 swimmers in the 25 backstroke per gender per age group. What does this mean? Your swimmer may not always be able to swim the events they want to swim due to number limitations. This can change meet to meet. A swimmer has to be able to swim a stroke legally (or at least very close to legal) before I can enter them in that event. These rules are in place to encourage swimmers to learn the proper way to swim the strokes and to keep the meets running on an efficient timeline. Our goal is to improve our strokes over the course of the season such that swimmers can have more stroke options rather than limitations. If you have any questions about this, please let me know. 3. Team Shirts, Caps and Merch Our team shirts are IN! Thanks to Jayme Stuart for sorting all of our shirts this afternoon. We were able to hand out most of the shirts and caps this afternoon. PLEASE WRITE YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON ALL OF THEIR TEAM GEAR!! Names should be written on tags. Please take a black sharpie marker and write your child's name on the inside or outside of their swim cap. We are giving out 80 caps this year and they all look the same. We do NOT have extra caps to give to swimmers if they cannot find their cap. Unless the cap breaks due to a defect, a replacement will not be issued. If you did not get your gear today, it will be at the meet tomorrow. It is 10:30pm and my brain is shutting down. As such, that is all of the information I can think of at the moment. I'm super proud of all of these kids and I can't wait to see what everyone can do tomorrow! LET'S GO GATORS!! Karen
