Grandview at GLRG meet information
Good Morning Gators!!
Hard to believe but tonight is our LAST dual meet of the season! We are hosting the Grandview Gators to close out our regular season. This will be another competitive meet! Both teams are bringing around 50 swimmers each. Relays will be competitive. It should be an exciting night of racing! Here are a few important pieces of information:
1. Arrival: please have your swimmers to the pool by 4:45pm. Glenridge warm ups will be from 5:00-5:15pm. We will try to get the meet rolling as close to 5:30 as possible.
2. Heat Sheets and Event Lists: I have posted to the website a marked up copy of the heat sheet which shows which events will be combined. I have also posted a list of events by age group. Please note- a number of swimmers are swimming up in relays. This is done to increase the number of relays in as many age groups as possible so we can score points. If a swimmer is swimming up an age group for a relay, I have circled their names on the Age Group list. If your child is swimming up an age group, please let them know that so they can be prepared. If your swimmer is not listed in a relay on the heat sheet, they are an ALTERNATE and may be called upon to swim if another member of the relay is absent.
3. Heat Index: The heat index for tonight is projected to be over 100 degrees. PLEASE PACK PLENTY OF FLUIDS FOR YOUR SWIMMERS. This is even more critical for the swimmers who are coming from a day at camp. The hospitality coolers are for meet workers and volunteers who cannot break from their job to get a drink. They are not for the kids. Everyone needs to make sure they drink plenty of water during the day and during the meet tonight.
4. Flatland Burgers and Kona Ice will be at the meet tonight. Come hungry!!
The last two weeks have been really exciting for our swimmers. We've had a lot of growth and development in their strokes and endurance. We've had a number of "light bulb" moments where kids have really started to understand some of the mechanics of swimming and have gone from getting a DQ to being legal. The hard work is paying off! As you stand drenched in sweat tonight, remember to take a moment to look around and appreciate the magic of summer swim. The laughs, the high fives, the icy drink moustaches, the cheers and the feeling of community are all what makes it memorable.
So put on your Gator Gear for one last home meet and let's bring home a WIN!!!!
LET'S GO GATORS!!!!
