Gator Meet Up and Important Season Information
Hello Gator Families,
Happy Friday and Happy early Mother’s Day to all of the Gator moms out there! You all are the best and most fun group of swim moms I know! I can’t wait to see everyone on deck this year! We are marching through May, so I wanted to take a minute to give you some important information.
1. Team Meet and Greet Ice Cream Social/Parent Meeting – Sunday May 18th 6:30p-7:30p
On Sunday, May 18th we will have a Gator meet and greet ice cream social at the Glenridge Pool pavilions! Your kids will have the opportunity to socialize with each other, have a treat, meet their coaches and learn about the season. For those interested in ordering a swim suit, we will have a fit kit available so your child can try on the different sizes before you place your order. We will also be handing out our team gear! (t-shirts and caps) If you are new to our team, this will be a great way to learn about how the season will run, how to register your swimmers for meets and how to sign up to volunteer. We will have a parent meeting starting at 7pm.
2.Team Suit/Gator Gear

I will have a fit kit at the team meet and greet on 5/18 as well as during the first week of practice so you can try on suits before placing your order. The suit is a custom order so you cannot return the suit to SwimOutlet for a refund if the fit is off. Remember that over time the pool chemicals will break down the suit a little. A suit that fits a little small initially will gradually stretch out. For anyone that has a team suit that no longer fits but is still wearable, please use our team facebook page as a buy/sell/trade venue.
Parents – if you need some Gator Gear, there is a section where you can order shirts with our Gator logo.
3. Caps/T-shirts
Our team latex caps are in! Our t-shirts are scheduled to be in by the end of next week! We will hand those items out, by family, at our team meet and greet on May 18th.
4. First week of Practice/Mock Meet
Our first week of practice is May 19-22. We will practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and have our mock meet on Thursday. Declarations for the mock meet are officially open! You can declare your swimmer for the meet and sign up for a volunteer spot. The mock meet will consist of one relay, freestyle and backstroke. It will give your swimmer a brief intro into what to expect at a swim meet. With the mock meet falling on the eve of the last day of school, we will organize a pizza order where families can order their own pizza and eat at the pool. With it being one of the busiest weeks of the year, our goal is to keep the mock meet as fun, easy and simple as possible.
5. Stroke and Turn Judge Training
We have a GREAT need for more parents to be trained as stroke and turn judges. Returning stroke and turn judges – thank you to those who have completed their training! If you have not yet completed your short quiz, please do so when you can. I “kindly persuaded” my husband Jeremy to be a stroke and turn judge and he said the test is not bad. The questions are based on the stroke rules, which you can find here:
We need new parents to attend stroke and turn judge training! Pretty please!! Being a stroke and turn judge is not like being a referee for other youth sports like soccer, baseball, basketball or the like – it’s better! No one is going to yell at you, there is no field or court to run up and down and you get the best view of the pool! New stroke and turn judges can training on either 5/13 (this coming Tuesday evening) at 7pm at Forsyth Country Club or 5/28 at 7pm at Brookberry Farm.
