Gator Updates- News from the Swamp
Hello Gator Families!
I think it's safe to say that our toughest opponent this season has been the weather. Between freezing cold temps and water at the beginning, the many evening storms of recent and next week's prediction of scorching hot weather - we've really had to learn to adapt and adjust. We had a great home meet on Tuesday. For those still wondering, we did win against Jonestown. However, the score wasn't the important part of the evening. Our victory was in the individual improvements of each swimmer and the sportsmanship and hospitality we showed to the visiting team. Nice job everyone!
We are into the second half of our season with 2 away meets and 1 remaining home meet. Here are some important pieces of information for the coming week:
1. Away meet at Salem Glen on June 24th: Next week we travel to Salem Glen for the first time. Please have your swimmer declarations in by Sunday 6/22 at 5pm. We also have volunteer spots to fill (while fewer jobs are needed for an away meet, they are all very important).
2. GFSL Finals- the league finals will be on Sunday July 13th this year at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The morning session will be for the 10 and under swimmers while the afternoon session will be for the 11 and older swimmers. In order to be eligible to swim in finals, you have to have swam in at least 2 regular season dual meets. If you have already swam in 2 meets this season, or are anticipating swimming in 2 meets this season, please go ahead and declare your swimmer.
3. Adult Swimming- Assuming it stops storming in the evening, we'll get some adult swim time in this week from 6:15-7:00pm.
Have a great weekend!
Karen
