2026 GFSL Meet Dates
Hello Gators!! Long time - no email!!
I hope this email finds everyone well and ready for the upcoming holiday season!! Believe it or not, the start of summer swim is a mere 6 months away!
Speaking of swim season, I have a few items of news for all of you:
1. 2026 Schedule:
Last night the Greater Forsyth Swim League voted on meet dates for the 2026 season. Summer league swim meets will be held on the following dates:
Tuesday 6/2, Tuesday 6/9, Tuesday 6/16, Tuesday 6/23, Thursday 6/25, Tuesday 6/30, Tuesday 7/7
GFSL finals will be on Sunday July 12, 2026 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Please note: there are 7 dates but we will only have 6 meets. We will be assigned a "bye" week on one of these dates once the final schedule is issued. We just don't know when that "bye" week will be assigned. The final season schedule should be published in the next two weeks.
2. New Division:
Last night I received news that Glenridge will be moved to the medium team division in 2026. In 2025 there were 7 other teams who had fewer swimmers than our pool. As such, we got bumped up to the medium team division. What does this mean? We will get to visit some new pools and host some new teams at our pool! I've always thought of our team as very small, but looking back over the past 4 seasons our team has really grown, in the best way possible. Between new families moving to the neighborhood, other families joining their friends, or because of the general knowledge that we are the most fun summer swim team around - we have really created something special and wonderful. We will still give registration priorities to Glenridge residents and returning swimmers, but we will also leave some room for a little more healthy growth of our team.
3. Team Volunteer Committee
This year I really want to get a solid volunteer committee put together to help organize different aspects of the team. I would also like for us to look into doing some fundraising before the season begins (I promise no chicken pies, baked goods or MLM marking schemes). We will have a volunteer committee meeting on Sunday, January 4 2026 at Lowe's Foods on Robinhood Rd. at the tables by the coffee bar. Since I see many of you on the regular at Lowe's Foods, it will be a great place to gather! More info to come on this but keep this date in mind! I'll send out a list of volunteer committee roles in the coming weeks.
4. League Rep News:
Rebecca Hartsough has decided to rotate out of her position as one of our league reps for the Greater Forsyth Swim League. Thank you Rebecca for all of the time, energy and effort you have contributed to Glenridge over the past seasons! We truly appreciate everything you have done! Keith Wilson will remain as a league representative and I will be rotating on as the other league representative. What does this mean? I will no longer have the title of "head coach". My involvement with the team will be roughly the same as in years past and our wonderful teen coaches will get more responsibility!
That's all for now. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Go Gators!
Karen
